Abstract
This is a report on the investigation of the effectiveness of the introduction of a needle-free system of intravenous drug administration at Royal Darwin Hospital. The system was introduced to Royal Darwin Hospital in August 1993, so a retrospective study was conducted of reported needle-stick injuries for the twelve month period prior to its introduction. This data was compared with the number of needle-stick injuries reported for the twelve month period following the introduction of the system. The results showed a significant reduction in the number of reported needle-stick injuries since the introduction of the system.https://doi.org/10.1071/HI95134
