Abstract
The presence of substrate transporters in some plant mitochondria has been demonstrated using the ammonium salt swelling technique. It is shown that isolated cauliflower and beetroot mitochondria have at least three anion transporters (phosphate ion, dicarboxylate ion and tricarboxylate ion). Some substrate specificity and inhibitor studies are also reported. The role of these transporters in plant mitochondria is discussed.https://doi.org/10.1071/PP9740177
