Abstract

Data obtained using new three-component DHEM probes are ultimately limited in sensitivity by errors in the angle of rotation. Cartesian reconstructions have been used to demonstrate the relationship between rotation angles and sensor amplitudes. Numerical models suggest that accurate filament solutions can be generated using data containing errors in rotation exceeding 10%. However independent methods based on observations of field strength are available for simple targets to verify measured rotation angles. These results can provide additional constraints for any initial interpretation based on noisy data and cross-hole magnitudes can be readily calculated to verify a target response. Three-component DHEM data can provide robust solutions generating significant financial benefits for a minor cost in survey time.
