Abstract
The tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins that form along the margins of lithospheric plates is now understood within the framework of the plate tectonic model. By contrast, basins which form within continental interiors appear enigmatic because the model suggests that continental lithosphere behaves as a rigid plate which is aloof from the tectonic processes acting along its margins.https://doi.org/10.1071/EG985216
