Abstract

Results from the Elura DIGHEMII survey indicate that the ore-body was not detected by the towed-bird helicopter-borne system. Although the bulk oxidation zone response was suppressed by data processing, all of the electromagnetic anomalies outlined appear to be caused by discrete changes in the conductivity?thickness product of the oxidation zone, mean terrain clearance and aerodynamic instability of the bird above the conductive ground. The quantitative interpretation algorithms were found extremely useful in supporting the qualitative study of the results. The INPUT Mark V survey provided data for comparison purposes. There appear to be no differences in the overall effectiveness of the two EM systems in the environment encompassing the Elura deposit.
