Abstract
The term crustal studies has usually been taken to mean principally the detection and mapping of rock units such as the layers bounded by the Mohorovicic, Conrad and similar discontinuities, or blocks bounded by faults and other structural elements of crustal dimensions. Besides these primary crustal units and structures, smaller-scale targets, such as volcanic and sedimentary basins, volcanic piles or sedimentary prisms on ocean shelves, are also generally included as objects of crustal studies.https://doi.org/10.1071/EG976053
