A multi~trace synthetic seismogram generator

Abstract

A description of a synthetic reflection seismogram generator which uses a stochastic model in the generating process is presented. The purpose of the generator is to provide synthetic data which are suitable for testing the effectiveness of various classes of seismic digital filters which can operate on the data. To this end, the generator has been programmed for implementation on a digital computer. Some examples of the output from the generator are given.
