Gaj Stavber was born in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and obtained his B.Sc. degree in 2004 in the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. Five years later he obtained his Ph.D. in the Laboratory of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry in the joint laboratory of The Jožef Stefan Institute and The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, under the supervision of Professor Marko Zupan. His scientific work has mainly focussed on developing efficient synthetic methodologies for selective halogenation and aerobic transformations of organic compounds with an emphasis on green and sustainable chemistry. Gaj is currently undertaking a postdoc in material science at the Electronic Ceramics Department, The Jožef Stefan Institute, working with Professor Marija Kosec. |
