Pawan K. Sharma is Professor of Chemistry at Kurukshetra University (KU). He received his Ph.D. degree from KU and after a brief stint at Lupin Laboratories, he joined KU as Lecturer (1996). He conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Iowa (1998–2000) and later worked in Antarctica as a member of the Indian Scientific Expedition team (2002). He was Research Associate Professor (2003–2005) at the Nucleic Acid Center, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and has been a regular visiting researcher to SDU every summer since 2007. He has published over 100 original research papers and is the joint holder of three patents.



Pawan Kumar obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2010 from Kurukshetra University (India) under the supervision of Professor Pawan K. Sharma. During 2008–2009, he was a visiting Ph.D. student in the laboratory of Professor Patrick J. Hrdlicka at the University of Idaho (USA). After his Ph.D. studies, he joined the group of Professor Poul Nielsen at the University of Southern Denmark (Denmark) as a post-doctoral fellow. Later, he secured the Humboldt post-doctoral fellowship and joined Professor Ulf Diederichsen’s group at the University of Göttingen (Germany). He recently joined Professor Tom Brown’s group at Oxford University (UK) as a Marie Curie fellow, studying nucleic acid metabolism in living cells.



Poul Nielsen is Professor of Organic Chemistry at University of Southern Denmark (SDU). He received his Ph.D. degree from Odense University in 1998 and started his independent career at the same place. He became a full professor at SDU in 2008. He has been a visiting scientist at the University of Liverpool, UK, and at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. He is co-founder of the Nucleic Acid Center at SDU and his research is focused on the synthesis and design of modified nucleic acids. He has published more than 100 research papers.
