Andrew Beekman is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian National University. Andrew studied for his B.Sc.(Adv.) at the Australian National University and received an Honours degree in 2009. He began his Ph.D. studies in 2010 with Dr Russell Barrow at the Research School of Chemistry as an Alan Sargeson Scholar, focusing on the elucidation and synthesis of biologically significant fungal metabolites from traditional medicinal sources, completing his thesis in 2013. In 2014, he will begin an Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of British Columbia

Russell Barrow is a group leader (Organic Chemistry of Natural Systems) at the Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University. After completing B.Sc.(Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees at Melbourne University, he undertook postdoctoral research at The University of Hawaii, focusing on the isolation and synthesis of natural products. Current research interests include studying the chemistry supporting the traditional use of fungi in Papua New Guinea, where he has an adjunct appointment at the University of Goroka.
