Reaction of Benzo[f][1,7]naphthyridin-7-amine With Aromatic Aldehydes

Abstract

The reaction of benzo [f][1,7]naphthyridin-7-amine with aromatic aldehydes ArCHO [ Ar = Ph, 3-Y(C₆H₄), where Y = Me, No₂, Cl ] was investigated. Instead of the expected formation of azomethines the cyclization leading to benzimidazonaphthyridines was observed.
