Abstract

Syntheses are reported for 3-(t-butylamino)methyl-4′-chloro-5-(7′-trifluoromethylquinolin-4′-(ylamino)biphenyl-2-ol (5b) and analogous Mannich bases from diethylamine, pyrrolidine, piperidine, 3- and 4-methylpiperidine, 4-benzylpiperidine and 4-benzylpiperazine via N- substituted 3-aminomethyl-4′-chloro-5-nitrobiphenyl-2-ols (9).

These compounds have been prepared for evaluation as antimalarials.
