Structure of a New Dolastane Diterpene From Dictyota furcellata

Abstract
The structure and relative stereochemistry of a new dolastane diterpene isolated from the brown alga Dictyota furcellata has been determined from spectral evidence and an X-ray diffraction study. Crystals are monoclinic, P21, a 15.762(5), b 15 562(5), c 9.599(6) Å , β 100.05(4)° Z 4; R was 0.065 for 3587 'observed' reflections. If the dolastane absolute configuration is assumed, the compound is shown to be (6S,7R,14S)-6,7-diacetoxydolasta-l(15),8-dien-14-ol (1).
