Oxomolybdenum(V) complexes with Quinolin-8-olato, Quinoline-8-thiolato and Quinolin-8-aminato ligands

Abstract

The mononuclear complexes [MoVOXL2] (X = Cl, Br; LH = quinolin-8-ol, quinoline-8-thiol) have been synthesized from the reaction of (pyH)2 [MoOCl5] and (pyH) [MoOBr4] with quinolin-8-ol or 8-mercaptoquinolinium chloride and bromide in the presence of NEt3 or NaOMe. Bromine superhyperfine coupling [A(79,81Br) 7 × 10-4 cm-1] is observed in the e.s.r. spectra of [MoOBrL2]. The reaction of (pyH)2 [MoOCl5] with quinolin-8-amine (LH) and water produces binuclear [Mo2O3Cl2L2].
