Oxomolybdenum(V) complexes with Quinolin-8-olato, Quinoline-8-thiolato and Quinolin-8-aminato ligands

Abstract

The mononuclear complexes [Mo^VOXL₂] (X = Cl, Br; LH = quinolin-8-ol, quinoline-8-thiol) have been synthesized from the reaction of (pyH)₂ [MoOCl₅] and (pyH) [MoOBr₄] with quinolin-8-ol or 8-mercaptoquinolinium chloride and bromide in the presence of NEt₃ or NaOMe. Bromine superhyperfine coupling [A(^79,81Br) 7 × 10^-4 cm^-1] is observed in the e.s.r. spectra of [MoOBrL₂]. The reaction of (pyH)₂ [MoOCl₅] with quinolin-8-amine (LH) and water produces binuclear [Mo₂O₃Cl₂L₂].
