The preparation of C-methyl-substituted triazamacrocyclic ligands

Abstract

The C-methyl-substituted macrocyclic compounds 2-and 3-methyl-1,4,7-tritosyl-1,4,7-triazacyclodecane, 2-methyl-1,4,8-tritosyl-1,4,8-triazacycloundecane, 2,2-dimethyl-1,4,8-triazacycloundecane, meso-2,3-dimethyl-1,4,8-tritosyl-1,4,8-triazacycloundecane and the compound 3,6,9-tritosyl-3,6,9- triazabicyclo[9.3.1]pentadecane have been prepared by the Richman and Atkins method. The yields of the macrocycles are low, separation from co-products is difficult, and detosylation requires more vigorous conditions than for the non-methyl substituted compounds.
