Some base-catalysed reactions of polysubstituted Cyclohexa-2,5-dienones

Abstract

Substituted 4-nitrocyclohexa-2,5-dienones (la), (lb) and (4a) give 6-hydroxycyclohexa-2,4-dienones on mild treatment with aqueous sodium bicarbonate. Reactions of cyclohexa-2,5-dienones (4a) and (5) with ammonia in ether give phenols (7a) and (7b) with the loss of bromine from C4. The preparations of the 4-nitro dienones (4a) and (4b) are described.
