Abstract
The reaction between Ru3(CO)11(CNBut) and hydrogen affords the μ3-formimidoyl complex Hru3(μ3-HCNBut)(CO)9 (2) as the major product; also formed are Hru3(μ-HCNBut)(CO)8- (CNBut), and the tetranuclear clusters H4Ru4(CO)12-n(CNBut)n (n = 0, 1 and 2). Hydrogenation of Ru3(CO)10(CNBUt)2 gives higher yields of HRu3(μ-HCNBut)(C0)8(CNBut) and H4Ru4(CO)10-(CNBut)2. Reactions between H4Ru4(CO)12 and CNBut to give H4Ru4(CO)12-n(CNBut)n. (n = 1, 2 and 4) are also described.
