The Synthesis of Sulfur-Containing Spiro Orthocarbonates

Abstract

New sulfur-containing spiro orthocarbonates (SOCs) were prepared by using dichlorodiphenoxymethane. Mercapto alcohols were employed to yield O,S SOCs, and O,S diphenoxy intermediates in a one-step procedure. By adopting a two-step synthesis under basic conditions, a range of sulfur-containing heteroatom SOCs was produced. Preliminary studies indicate that this methodology is applicable to different ring sizes.
