Abstract
Hydrogen-1,carbon-13,phosphorus-31 and selenium-77 n.m.r. studies have been carried out on some organophosphine selenides. The n.m.r. studies show that the ditertiary phosphine Ph2PCH2PPh2 reacts with the SeCN- ion to give predominantly the monoselenated derivative Ph2P(Se)CH2PPh2, but with the diphosphine Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2 the diselenated derivative is obtained. A qualitative study of the solvent dependence of selenium-77 chemical shifts is reported.
