Compounds of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) with 2,4,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9-triazacyclododec-1-ene

Abstract

Compounds of the macrocycle 2,4,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9-triazacyclododec- 1-ene (dla) with cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) are formed by reaction with acetone of complexes of these ions with 4-methyl-4- azaheptane-1,7-diamine. The preparations of M(dla)(NCS)2, (M = CoII, NiII and CuII), [M(dla)-(en)] (ClO4)2, [{M(dla)(OH)}2] (ClO4)2, [{M(dla)}2CO3] (ClO4]2, [M(dla)(acac)] ClO4, [{M(dla)}2- C2O4] (ClO4)2 (M = NiII, CuII), and [{Ni(dla)Cl}2](ClO4)2 are reported. The compounds are all assigned five-coordinate structures. The compounds [{M(dla)}2CO3] (ClO4)2, [{Cu(dla)(OH)}2]-(ClO4)2 and [{Cu(dla)}2C2O4](ClO4)2 show appreciable antiferromagnetic spin-coupling.
