An Alternative Method for the Preparation of Cyclic Sulfides

Abstract

The reactions of α,ω-dihaloalkanes with one equivalent of thiourea have been investigated. Certain ω-chloro-α-iodoalkanes give satisfactory yields of ω-chloroalkylisothiouronium iodides which on hydrolysis directly afford cyclic sulfides.
