Abstract
Syntheses of a number of aryllead(IV) tricarboxylates are reported. Some of these compounds have been prepared by the known methods of direct plumbylation, and reaction of a diarylmercury compound with lead tetraacetate in a halogenated acetic acid. Two further methods of preparation of aryllead tricarboxylates are reported and the scope of each of these has been explored. The methods involve the reaction of an arylmercury trifluoroacetate with lead tetrakistrifluoroacetatein trifluoroacetic acid, and the reaction of aryltrimethylsilanes with lead tetraacetate in trifluoroacetic acid.
