New chemical constituents of Planchonia careya

Abstract

From the ether extract of the bark of Planchonia careya there have been isolated 16-deoxybarring-togenol C, barringtogenol C and the previously unreported 16α,21β,22α,28-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-3-one. The methanol extract, after mild acid hydrolysis, gave the same three compounds together with three new esterified triterpene glycosides, the structures of which have been elucidated.
