Potential wool growth inhibitors. 2(1H)-Pyridone analogues of mimosine

Abstract

The syntheses of DL-α-amino-β-(5-hydroxy-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyridin-2- yl)propionic acid (3) and DL-α-amino-β-(1-hydroxy-2-oxo-1,2- dihydropyridin-4-yl)propionic acid (4), 2(1H)-pyridone isomers of the naturally occurring depilatory amino acid L-mimosine (1), are described.
