Abstract
The hexanuclear cluster complexes Ir2Cu4(C2Ar)8(PPh2R)2 (Ar = Ph, C6H4Me-p, C6H4F-p or C6F5, R = Ph; Ar = Ph or C6F5, R = Me) are formed in reactions between IrCl(CO)(PPh2R)2 and CuC2Ar. The rhodium analogues Rh2Cu4(C2Ar)8(PPh2R)2 (Ar = Ph, C6H4Me-p, C6H4F-p or C6F5; R = Ph or Me) were obtained with RhC1(CO)(PPh2R)2 or RhC1(PPh3)3 (Ar = C6F5 only). From two of the reactions, IrCu3(C2Ph3)3 and IrCu(C2C6F5)4/PPh3)3 were also isolated. Further reactions of the clusters with Fe2(C0)9 have given the octanuclear complexes Ir2Cu4Fe2-(C2Ar)8(C0)8(PPh3)2(Ar=Ph or C6H4Me-p).https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9760531
