Abstract
Oxidation of 6β-bromocholest-4-en-3-one (1) with perbenzoic acid (p- toluenesulphonic acid as catalyst) provided 6β-bromo-3-oxa-A- homocholest-4a-en-4-one (2) and a bromine free γ-lactone methyl ester (3).
