Electrophilic substitution with chlorothioformamidinium salts. Synthesis and reactions of some Pyrrolyl- and Indolyl-thioformamidinium salts

Abstract

Reaction of pyrroles and indoles with chlorothioformamidinium salts in benzene gives pyrrolyl- and indolyl-thioformamidinium salts in fair to good yield.¹ These compounds are reactive and versatile intermediates and can be converted into the corresponding esters and amides and their thio derivatives and to a variety of pyrrolyl- and indolyl-substituted heterocycles.
