Abstract

The reaction of 4-nitrobenzal chloride with sodium hydroxide in aqueous methanol gave products which can be accounted for as arising from the dimerization and cross-coupling of the radicals 4-O₂NC₆H₄CCl₂ and 4-O₂NC₆H₄CHCl.
