Some nickel(II) and cobalt(III) complexes of two isomeric Tetraethyl-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecadienes

Abstract

Preparations of N-rac- and N-meso-[Ni(l)][C1O₄]₂, N-meso-[Ni(l)(NCS)]₂, N-rac-[{Ni(l)}₂C₂O₄]-[ClO₄]₂, N-rac-[Co(l)acac][ClO₄]₂ and trans-N-rac-[Co(l)X₂] ClO₄, X = Cl^-, Br^-, OAc^-, NO₂^- are reported [where (1)= C-meso-(5,7,12,14-tetraethyl-7,14-dimethyl-l,4,8,ll-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,ll-diene)]. The p.m.r. spectra of N-rac- and N-meso-[Ni(l)]²⁺, some cobalt(111) derivatives of (1), and of [Ni (2)]²⁺, where (2) = C-meso-(5,7,12,14-tetraethyl-7,12-dimethyl-l,4,8,1l-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,14-diene), a geometrical isomer of (1), are described. The configurational assignments are deduced from the chemical properties and p.m.r, spectra.
