Abstract
Complex nickel(II) nitrites, NiLn(NO2)2, can be prepared in good yield by the reaction of amines with K4Ni(NO2)6. Bonding of the NO2 group depends on the nature of the amine. Paramagnetic, octahedral complexes of propane-1,3-diamine (pn) and some of its N-alkyl derivatives were: pn, n = 2, dinitro; N-methyl derivative, n = 2, dinitrito; N-ethyl, n = 2, dinitrito; N,N-dimethyl, n = 1, dinitrito with bidentate nitrito groups. Corresponding thiocyanate complexes were all NiL2(NCS)2. Homopiperazine gave diamagnetic, square-planar complexes, NiL22+, for all anions examined.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9731663
