Abstract
Two reactions have been explored for the preparation of azepinones, benzazep-inones, and dibenzazepinones. Sonn-Müller reduction of morphanthridine-6,ll-dione gave 11H-dibenz[b,e]azepin-11-one. Treatment of a series of azepinediones with triethyloxonium fluoroborate produced a number of ethoxyazepinones. Two products, 2-methoxy- and 2-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-5H-benz[f]azepin-5-one, appear to be the first examples of true azatropolone derivatives.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9722421
