Abstract

The distribution of protoaphins in aphid species is discussed. Species in some genera, particularly Aphis and Dysaphis, contain mixtures of -fb and -sl stereoisomers. A new component, deoxyprotoaphin, has been obtained from Dactyfiotus species and detected in several others. Rhododactynaphin glucosides have been obtained pure for the first time. The absolute stereochemistry of rhodoaphin-be has been assigned.
