The theory of the nuclear quadrupole interaction in terms of irreducible tensors

Abstract

Using irreducible tensors throughout, the theory of the interaction of a quadrupolar nucleus surrounded by electrons is presented. The theory is applied both to pure and Zeeman n.q.r. spectra. The relation between the spectrosoopic and intrinsic quadrupole moments is derived.
