Thallium(I) Schiff base compounds

Abstract

Complexes of thallium(1) and N-substituted salicylaldimines have been prepared of general formulae Tl(sal-NR), Tl₂(salen), Tl₂(salophen), and Tl₂(sa1-N-(2-OC₆H₄)). The infrared, ultraviolet, p.m.r., and mass spectra of the complexes are discussed in the light of their probable structures. It is shown that these thallium(1) complexes provide a facile and efficient route to the preparation of other metal and organometallic Schiff base chelates.
