Abstract
A number of new bidentate, tridentate, and sexadentate ligands derived from 2-pyridylhydrazine have been prepared and their metal complexes isolated. Such complexes have been shown capable of deprotonation, by removal of a proton from the hydrazine chain, to yield intensely coloured compounds soluble in organic solvents. Some of the deprotonated cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes have sub-normal magnetic moments. A summary of the classes of compounds that will undergo deprotonation of this type, and of the properties of such deprotonated complexes, is given with reference to other papers on this topic.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9690071
