Abstract
Nickel(11) complexes of the type NiL2B2 have been obtained where L is a 2-naphthol-1-carbonyl (I) or 1-naphthol-2-carbonyl (11) compound and B is water or 4-methylpyridine. The properties of the 4-methylpyridine adducts resemble those of corresponding aryl ligands: they have the high-spin configuration, absorption spectra typical of octahedral nickel(11) and dissociate in solution in non-donor solvents. Although the anhydrous compounds could not be obtained pure, they probably resemble the aryl compounds in having a high-spin, square-planar configuration in solution.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9681769
