Thiocarboxylato derivatives of Bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(III)

Abstract

Thioformato, thioacetato, thiopropionato, thiostearato, and thiobenzoato derivatives of bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(111) have been prepared by precipitation from air-free aqueous solutions of cp₂TiCl (cp =π-C₅H₅). The compounds are deep green in colour, readily oxidized by air, and are paramagnetic monomers having one unpaired electron per titanium atom. Infrared and visible spectral data are reported, together with conductivities in methanol, magnetic properties, and molecular weight values.
