Some studies in inorganic complexes. XXI. Indium(III) nitrogen chelates

Abstract

The following complexes have been described for the first time:            [InX₂ dimphen₂]X, [InX₂ amq₂]X, and [InX₂ mamq₂]X; where dimphen is 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, amq is 8- aminoquinoline, mamq is 2-methyl-8-aminoquinoline, and X is Cl, Br, I. The complexes behaved as uni-univalent electrolytes in N,N?- dimethylformamide. Conductances were measured of complexes of 2- acetamidopyridine (prepared for the first time), 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2?-bipyridyl, 5-nitro-1,10-phenanthroline, and 2,2?,2?-terpyridyl; i.e. [In acpy₃]X₃, [In phen₃]X₃, [In bipy₃]X₃, [In nitphen₃]X₃, and [In terpy₂]X₃ respectively. The results of these measurements were much less than the expected values and some degree of halide bonding is indicated, particularly in the case of the iodide complexes.
