Abstract
A detailed study has been made of the reactions between samarium isopropoxide and acetyl and benzoylacetones in the presence of benzene. The reactions with acetylacetone are all exothermic, yielding products which are sparingly soluble in benzene. The mixed isopropoxide acetyl or benzoylacetone derivatives have also been prepared in almost quantitative yield. A plausible reaction mechanism has been suggested.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9670685
