The reaction of Chloridobis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(III) with disulphides

Abstract

Chloridobis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(111) (cp₂TiCl) cleaves dialkyl and diaryl disulphides to give monothio compounds, cp₂Ti(Cl)SR, together with varying amounts of cp₂TiCl₂ and cp₂Ti(SR)₂. The latter bisthio compounds were prepared independently by the reaction of cp₂TiCl₂ with the sodium salts of the corresponding thiols.
