Abstract
Attempted condensation of benzil and benzoin with sodium acetylide in liquid ammonia caused fission of the central carbon-carbon bond of these substances, giving 3-phenylprop-1-yn-3-ol. Condensation of α-bromodeoxyanisoin with the same reagent gave several non-acetylenic products which have been identified.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9560391
