The chemical constituents of Australian Flindersia Species. VII. The synthesis of derivatives of Kokusagininic and skimmianinic acids

Abstract

Methylation of skimmianinic acid with diazomethane gave its methyl ester, but kokusagininic acid gave the methyl ester of 2,4,6,7-tetramethoxyquinoline-3-carboxylic acid. The synthesis of methyl skimmianinate and of methyl 2,4,6,7-tetramethoxy-quinoline-3-carboxylate is described.
