Abstract
The structures of Sr2SnO4 (I 4/mmm, a 4·0528(1), c 12·5852(5) Å) and Ba2SnO4 (I 4/mmm, a 4·1428(1), c 13·2993(4) Å) have been refined from neutron powder diffraction data by the Rietveld method. The results show the SnO6 polyhedra are not regular octahedra but are either elongated or compressed along the c direction depending on the dimension of the AO layer in these A2SnO4-type compounds.https://doi.org/10.1071/C97117
