The books in the Guidelines for Open Pit Slope Design Series were created as an outcome of the Large Open Pit Mine Slope Stability Project, an international research and technology transfer project on rock slope stability in open pit mines. The project is funded by mining companies, who represent a majority of the world's diamond and base metals production. The project's objectives are to produce a series of reference books on specific aspects related to the design and stability of large slopes associated with open pit mines.
