Proteins of Keratin and their Synthesis

Abstract

The presence within protein extracts from intact wool roots of a low·sulphur, non-microfibrillar protein masks the true specific activity values for microfibrillar proteins. As a consequence, the correct specific activity ratio of matrix to micro-fibrillar proteins at different time periods following a pulse of [35S]cystine is also masked.
