Abstract
The subfamily Termitinae is represented in temperate Australia by 12 species, 10 of which are known by all castes and two by imagos only. The 12 species are assigned to five genera, two of which, Hesperotermes and Ekphysotermes, are new and proposed to accommodate a number of species previously assigned to the genus Termes.Diagnoses of the new genera and descriptions of four new and one revalidated species of Termes are given, together with keys based on both the imagos and soldiers.
