The genus Perissomma (Diptera : Perissommatidae) with new species from Australia and Chile

Abstract

Three new species of Perissomma are described, two from Australia and one from Chile; also, further observations concerning the two species known previously, including biological, morphological, and cytogenetic information on Perissomma fusca, and descriptions of the male and presumed larva of P. mcalpinei are given; the larva proves to be remarkably different from that of P. fusca, and adapted to a quite different habitat.
