Revision of the subgenus Xenohesma Michener (Apoida : Colletidae)

Abstract

The subgenus Xenohesma Michener, 1965, of the genus Euryglossa Smith, 1853, is revised. Seventeen species are recognized including seven which are described as new: E. (X.) stagei, E. (X.) chrysea, E. (X.) melanoclypearis, E. (X.) hirsutoscapa, E. (X.) fasciata, E. (X.) clethrosema, and E. (X.) sigaloessa. In addition, the males of E. (X.) clypearis Michener are described for the first time and three species are redescribed. Keys that enable the separation of all species are presented.
