A survey of the scutacarid (Acari : Tarsonemini) fauna of Australia

Abstract

Scutacarid mites collected in Australia by Dr. G. F. Bornemissza and Dr. R. V. Southcott were studied. Of the 23 species examined, 20 were found to be new to science, three species are already known from Europe and one of these (Imparipes hystricinus) also from Africa and South America. Keys for the identification of the Australian species are given.
