Studies on the Australian Muscidae (Diptera) I. Some Species of Dichaetomyia Malloch

Abstract

The Australian species of Dichaetomyia Malloch with setulose scutellar margins are revised. The species are redescribed and a key for their identification given, with illustrations of diagnostic characters. In all, five species are considered; the identity of the non-Australian D. armata (Stein) is resolved; three Australian species are described as new, D. johannis, sp. nov., D. longiseta, sp. nov., and D. norrisi, sp. nov.; D. signifcans (Walker) is recorded from Australia for the first time.
